The Singles Small Group is a part of the singles ministry of Eagle Heights Church of Southwest Oklahoma City. A Small Group, in our view, is essential to the growth of the church and involves three main components of Christian living: Care, Prayer, and Relationships. So, it is our desire, through small groups that members, family, and friends find they are cared for, their needs are prayed over, and relationships are built to last a lifetime.
Specific to the Singles Small Group, we see our ministry as being threefold in purpose as well. First of all, we are a place of Rest for the weary; all singles have their own unique past, but usually have one thing in common, they are worn out from trying to make it on their own. Jesus said it best: "Come unto me all you who are heavy-laden, and I will give you rest."
Second, we are a place of Refuge and shelter. Our desire is to be a refuge for the single Christian to be him or herself. Acceptance, we believe, is not based on what you've done (or had done to you), but based on who we are in Jesus Christ. Because of His death, burial, and resurrection, we are all acceptable and pleasing to God.
Finally, our ministry is to Rebuild each other. Through our study of God's Word, other ministry opportunities, and a host of other activities, the ultimate goal of the Singles Small Group is to (re)build each other up in Christ. This is so we might minister to others the love and acceptance that we, ourselves have received from the Father in Heaven.
